Horse Haven Montana launched a new program several years ago called Lease/Learn/Love. It is designed to match suitable horses with families or individuals (youth, teens, seniors, trail riders), who may not want to make a long-term commitment to own a horse, to adopt, or foster but who would nevertheless like to have the experience of caring for a horse. This is not a riding program, but one designed to give an adopted horse in our care, frequent TLC, attention and interaction while giving the person an opportunity to be with and around a horse.
For a monthly fee (one-month minimum), you may “lease” a horse through HHMT, and give frequent care and attention to that horse. This might be for a month, while you try out a horse, for a summer or a season or on a monthly basis.
This program will enable horses to be exercised, used, stimulated and loved. It will enable them to have experiences that keep their minds and bodies engaged and thriving. It enables people to enjoy horse “ownership,” who may not want to make a long term commitment.
